Raffi Krikorian, CTO of Mozilla, has led engineering at Twitter and Uber's self-driving center and was the DNC's first CTO. He joins Tobi to talk about what agentic coding has done to engineering teams, and why he believes the social contract behind writing software needs rebuilding. He argues that Git doesn't fit a world where engineers type prompts instead of code, that teams lack the tooling to collaborate with agents, and that we may need more engineering and product managers, not fewer, while the new rules settle. The conversation also covers Mozilla's push for an open source AI ecosystem, memory as the next form of lock-in, and practical advice for CTOs who want to keep the leverage to switch AI providers.
